Advice of the Day

A friend told me tonight to "enjoy the things you can't control." Ya shoulda seen the look that comment elicited. But that was just my first reaction, and mostly because I knew he was right.

Second response: try to figure out everything in the world that I can't control. He was referring to people (and even just thinking about people there is a whole world of uncontrollability), but everything down to dreams and the weather, my own personality, the daily news...

Third response: Doesn't second response kind of miss the point? Not to say that my new philosophy is something akin to hakuna-matata que-sera-sera whatever... but... maybe more along the lines of "Do not worry about tomorrow, what you will eat or drink.."

And isn't there a special beauty in the adventure of living in such a wild, uncontrollable world and serving a wild, untamable God?
